Robert L. Barnard

Associate Consultant

Mr. Barnard brings to IBSS Associates over thirty years of leadership security experience in both the public and private sectors.  He has spearheaded the designs of such systems as the Perimeter Visual Security System around the US Senate Office Buildings, Fort Myers Big Four Residential area, Ft. McNair, and the Arlington National Cemetery.  Mr. Barnards achievements also include leading the physical security efforts of sites under the control of the US Navy, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Department of Defense and other government installations.  His security design experience extends also to systems installed for Olympic Villages, telecommunications facilities and nuclear and conventional power production plants.

Mr. Barnard has testified before several governmental agencies, conferences and private symposiums.  He has authored several articles, is the author of Intrusion Detection Systems (Butterworth Publishing), and continues as an instructor at the University of Delaware.


Frank Hoehne

Mr. Hoehne comes to IBSS Associates with over thirty years experience in the law enforcement and security industries.  His areas of expertise includes assessment of physical security systems, security needs identification in both public and private sectors, and pre and post sales account management of such institutions as the New York City Police Department and Allied Signal.

Mr. Hoehne has held increasingly responsible positions in the security systems sales industry for fifteen years.  In these roles he has focused on high profile corporations requiring the integration of large-scale systems.  His knowledge of physical security uniquely qualifies Mr. Hoehne to assess and recommend appropriate solutions to complex situations.

Prior to his involvement in physical security Mr. Hoehne spent thirteen years with the New Jersey Institute of Corrections managing a parolee district of twenty parole officers overseeing 2000 parolees.  Mr. Hoehne holds a BA in Business Administration, an MA in Sociology and an MA in Industrial/Organizational Society.


Robert Grossman

Bob has spent time as an end user, responsible for security, surveillance, and low-voltage electronics at Bally's Park Place, a major Atlantic City casino. As a Senior Project Manager for Sensormatic Electronics' Enterprise Accounts group, he learned first hand the difficulty in translating ideas into reality while staying on schedule and under budget. He has worked for both Vicon Industries (as Vice President of Customer and Technical Services) and American Dynamics/Tyco Safety Products (as Director of Product Line Management), with responsibilities that included pre-and post sales support, project design, product line management, customer service and sales.

During his career, Bob has been associated with some of the largest and most complex electronic security projects in the world. These include casinos (MGM Grand, Foxwoods, Mystic Lake, Genting Highlands, Subic Bay, The Sahara) in the United States and internationally, government projects including the U.S. Postal Service, and commercial and industrial projects for companies like EDS and IBM.

He has authored numerous articles for industry publications, including Security Sales and Integration magazine where he writes the popular monthly column "Bridging the Gap".  Bob has also conducted training classes and spoken at numerous industry events both internationally and in the US, on topics ranging from designing systems to the future of technology in our industry.


John Kerster

John Kerster, a professional engineer, brings 20 years experience to IBSS in all aspects of integrated security management systems including engineering, sales, project management and general management.

Prior to joining IBSS, Mr. Kerster was Regional Vice President of a large national security integration firm. Previous to that, John successfully managed the Baltimore area operation of Simplex, a national fire and security integrator, and consulted for Perini Construction and GSA, overseeing the security systems installations in the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC.

In addition to projects in the United States, Mr. Kerster has traveled extensively worldwide working with engineers and end users in Canada, Western Europe, the Middle East, and Hong Kong while first employed by Chubb Security Systems and subsequently by Mosler, Inc. Lastly, Mr. Kerster has, on numerous occasions, lectured on the subject of Security System Technology at the Department of Justice's National Academy of Corrections in Boulder, Colorado.


Michael Lambert

Michael Lambert has worked in both the public and private sectors of the Information Technology (IT) disciplines for more than two decades. His span of management experience includes computer operations, system programming, and systems security. During the course of his distinguished career he has acquired a vast body of knowledge and level of experience as a consultant, corporate security director & manager, and a practitioner in physical & IT/Network systems and security. He is internationally known for his work in the field of computer virus protection, detection and eradication.

For more than a decade Mr. Lambert has focused on physical and computer security, most recently consulting to numerous corporate and government organizations.  In this capacity, Mr. Lambert has designed security organizations, audited banking DMZs, designed DMZs for critical infrastructure, and conducted over 40 computer penetration tests for government, banking, medical, educational, e-commerce, and other organizations.  Mr. Lambert has structured and managed corporate security organizations, installed corporate identification and access control systems nationwide, implemented corporate physical and IT security systems and processes, responded to and investigated computer security incidents of all kinds. In addition he has investigated cases involving computer intrusion, aggravated harassment, credit card fraud, child predators, employee wrongdoing, and denial of service attacks.

Mr. Lambert is Board Certified in Security Management (CPP) and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).


James Swenson

Jim comes to IBSS with over twenty years experience in the security field.  He has worked for several industry leading security manufacturers and has been responsible for the strategic planning, design, development & implementation of the physical security solutions for several large, national accounts including AT&T, Merck Chemical Manufacturing & Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals.

Jim has extensive experience in all facets of physical security, intrusion detection and Asset Protection program development and design. He is a recognized Subject Matter Expert in Program & Project Management, Applications Engineering and Operations and has been certified in Program/Project Management by the Stevens Institute of Technology.

More recently, Jim has directed a team of security professionals that deploy, administer and maintain a successful, nationwide security operation for a Fortune 100 organization.

Over the course of the last two decades Jim has acquired expertise and industry wide recognition in the areas of:

Csaba Szollosi

Csaba brings to IBSS more than two decades of experience in the field of engineering. Csaba spent 13 years as VP of Project Engineering with a major industrial equipment manufacturer prior to his involvement in the security industry. During his tenure he acquired a unique skill set derived of his intimate involvement in the complete life cycle development of large commercial projects. He took an active role in the sales, design, project management, installation, commissioning, and subsequent customer support disciplines associated with large commercial projects.

After nearly a decade of experience in the security industry at various levels of responsibility and involvement with several of the industry's leading authorities, he has earned recognition as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the fields of Physical Security Assessment and design. He has provided management oversight and specific engineering design over more than two hundred Physical Security projects. 

His taciturn personality and firm grasp of engineering principles coupled with his unique skill set and intimate knowledge of physical security assessment and design has earned him the respect of the Security Industry's most accomplished practitioners. Csaba attended Penn State University's College of Engineering and is a member in good standing with the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS).


Robert Weston

Mr. Weston brings over fifteen years experience in Information Technology assessment, acquisition and installation of network solutions.  He has served as the IT manager overseeing corporations' internal network capability, hardware and software operating and security systems.  Mr. Weston's areas of expertise include installation, configuration and administration of microsoft server and desktop applications.  He also possesses expertise in building, developing, and servicing network systems, servicing servers and work station units, station units, fault-tolerant storage arrays (RAID-5 and RAID-0/1) and network printing systems.

Prior to IBSS, Mr. Weston used his hardware and software systems knowledge as packaging engineer in various public corporations such as McCormik & Co., Calvin Klein, and The Crayola Company.  Mr. Weston holds a BS degree in Applied Science in Engineering from Rutgers University.
